Roy Rook Boat Docks and Facility Upgrades

Klamath Glen, CA - The Roy Rook boat ramp facility is an important public access launching point for the Lower Klamath River. AFF is fundraising to re-establish the annual installation of a floating boat dock at this site to increase boat traffic flow, create safer boat boarding and provide safe and secure mooring for vessels. Fundraising for this facility includes necessary improvements, and annual maintenance costs.

Klamath River Yearling Chinook Program

Irongate Fish Hatchery, Klamath River, CA: AFF will fund much needed, ongoing support for purchase of food for the yearling Chinook at the Irongate Hatchery. These fish will now be released into the river on a staggered schedule and later than usual, giving the yearling Chinook a much better chance of survival. Additional benefits include increased return rates, and reduction of competition against native stocks within the river system.

Chinook Marking Program

The purchasing of coded wire tags for the hatchery chinook program will help increase the fractional marking of these fish up to nearly twenty five percent (25%). The additional marking will provide significantly improved data on the lifecycles traits, trends, and impacts of hatchery fish. This increased and improved data will help us improve our overall management efforts of not only hatchery fish but also native fish populations within the Klamath River Basin.
