About AFF

American Fishing Foundation was created in response to a lack of support for coastal sportfishing, fisheries education, and outdoor traditions. The founding members of AFF recognized that the recreational sport fisherman and most local communities along the Pacific Coastline of California, Oregon and Washington are significantly reliant on a vibrant and healthy fishery. As records indicate from the various governmental agencies which regulate our sportfish populations, significant and sustained losses have plagued the populations of anadromous fish which inhabit the Pacific Coastline for decades. And as everyone looks to place blame conditions only continue to worsen for the fish. Although many have complained, or demanded change, overall they have not been heard. Other larger groups that are better organized, engage paid lobbyists, and have strong financial backing, continually overshadow the cries from the now fragmented and unorganized recreational sport fish communities.

It is AFF's intent as an organization to unify and strengthen these now fragmented groups and communities under one single dynamic voice. AFF will then seek fair, equitable, and balanced change for eventually restoring the once abundant anadromous fish populations of the Pacific Coast Region.
