About AFF

American Fishing Foundation was created in response to an unfulfilled needs of advocacy for coastal sportfishing, fisheries education, outdoor traditions and recreational pursuits. The founding members of AFF recognized that the recreational sport fisherman and most local communities along the Pacific Coastline of California, Oregon and Washington are significantly reliant on a vibrant and healthy fishery for their economic, cultural, and social wellbeing. As records indicate from the various governmental agencies which regulate our sportfish populations, data shows significant and sustained losses within the population of anadromous fish which inhabit the Pacific Coastline. This downward trend in population numbers has had a substantial negative impact to sport fisherman and also many of the local Pacific Coastline communities that are economically dependant on them. Although many have complained, or demanded change, overall they have not been heard. Other larger groups which are better organized, have stronger advocacy capabilities, engage paid lobbies, and have strong financial and participative backing from their constituents/members, continually overshadow the now fragmented and unorganized recreational sport fish communities voice and cries for reform.

It is AFF's intent as an organization to unify and strengthen these now fragmented groups and communities under one single dynamic voice and then seek fair, equitable, and balanced change for the eventual restoring to the once abundant anadromous fish populations of the Pacific Coast Region.
